La Casa De Papel Episode 1 Summary
The Professor recruits a young robber and seven other criminals for a grandiose burglary targeting the Royal Mint of Spain.
A young criminal on the run, wanted by all the police in Spain, makes one last call to her mother before leaving the country. But a stranger approaches him in the street and offers him a new scrap of 2.4 billion euros.
She accepts and finds herself with seven other robbers in a house in Toledo, where a so-called Professor offers them to work out a robbery for five months.
To remain anonymous, she becomes Tokyo and will, therefore, have to act with Berlin, a jewelry thief, Moscow, a specialist in precise mechanics, and his son Denver, who has a penchant for fighting.
She also discovers Rio, a young hacker, Oslo and Helsinki, two Serbs, and Nairobi. The Professor announces to them that they are going to hold up the Royal Mint of Spain.
On the day of the robbery, a group of high school students arrives to visit the Factory. At the same time, Mónica Gaztambide, employed at the Factory, announces to her lover, Arturo Román who is none other than the director, that she is pregnant with him. The eight thieves hijack the truck responsible for delivering the paper money and enter the premises.
They close the armored doors from the inside and are therefore locked up with sixty-seven hostages. They confiscate cell phones and install a cable to communicate with the Professor who stayed in a nearby hangar.
During this time, the police hired Raquel Murillo, the best negotiator in the country. After opening a vault, the robbers apply what was planned: pretend to go out, shoot in the air and re-enter. But not everything goes as planned, two police officers are injured and Rio is shot.
We learn that the day before the robbery, Rio offered the medal that bears his name to Tokyo, to ask for it in marriage. So they broke one of the Professor’s rules: no relationship between the robbers.
